Would you watch a HBO movie based on key events leading to 'Game of Thrones'? There’s a heated debate among fans about the potential for such a production.

Would You Watch an HBO Movie Based on 'Game of Thrones' Key Events?

...

Oh absolutely! These are stories already written by George R.R. Martin, and there would be no need for substitute writers with plastic endings. HBO has a track record for delivering exceptional productions, and the Game of Thrones nor its cinematography would not be missing their mark. Heck yes!!!

Exclusive Focus on Premieres and Series

The recent HBO exhibition has left many disappointed, especially concerning the adaptation of George R.R. Martin's works. For instance, a prequel series focusing on Robert's Rebellion or Doom of Valyria could be compelling. This idea, however, begs for a?

Personal Experiences and Views

I'm not interested in any new approach to George Martin's books anymore. A prequel series spanning from King Aerys' youth to the end of Robert's Rebellion, or just a series about Rhaegar from his birth in Summerhall to Ned Stark's arrival in Winterfell with baby Jon, could also be attractive. The Doom of Valyria or the Long Night might fit into a single film, but it would need two solid seasons not a two-hour film. There is too much source material to capture everything just in a movie. If produced, it would highly likely be botched, just like parts of season 7-8 of the original series.

My Interest in Any New Production

As a Game of Thrones fan, I would watch anything related to the show if it was well-written, produced, and acted. However, my previous strong interest in the show has dissipated considerably. The last four seasons diminished any potential for new content. I would give any show-related content a chance, but the payoff is of extreme importance. I don't plan on re-watching Game of Thrones because of how it fell apart. Even the early seasons, which were great, will probably never be watched again. I don't have any investment in watching something from HBO or any other channel that led up to the events in Game of Thrones.

Considering Necessity and Composition

I would probably watch any of these movies, be it Robert's Rebellion, Aegon's Invasion, Doom of Valyria, or Long Night. However, I can't see any of these storylines being compressed into a 2 or 3-hour film without cutting material that is already in print, except maybe Doom of Valyria. It could be depicted in the time a movie would allow, but it would be expensive and require all new characters, since it was over a decade after Daenerys' company left. The Bloodmoon series, rumored to be about the Long Night, is at least a season long. Robert's Rebellion and Aegon’s Conquest take place over long periods of time and involve multiple characters, which a movie can't encompass and do justice to.

Experiences from Other Adaptations

The writing of seasons 7 and 8 was not good, and the writers aren't working on Bloodmoon. However, George R.R. Martin’s ideas can still be expanded on in a screen format. The Syfy series 'Nightflyers' while not the epic that Game of Thrones was in the early seasons, was still enjoyable to watch, even though it departs from its source material. I've watched film or series adaptations of many of my favorite books, and I can roll with the screen production not following the book exactly as long as it doesn't contradict or ignore its own storyline. I'm going to give HBO another chance. My perspective might change when I see updates on future productions.

Overall, the potential for new HBO productions based on Game of Thrones events holds promise if they can remain faithful to the source material or at least achieve high production values.
