Is Movie and TV Consumption Hindering Our Path to Spiritual Enlightenment?
Are Movies and TV Shows Hindering Our Path to Attaining God?
Attaining God is not just about reaching a place of peace, but it is also about breaking free from the endless cycle of birth and death. Our holy scriptures, including the Vedic texts and the Bhagavad Gita, serve as a guide to this profound journey. They contain divine knowledge that helps us understand the divine principles governing our existence.
Understanding the Spiritual Path
According to the Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 18 Verse 62, the supreme divine being instructs one to seek refuge in the divine for all their needs. It is by this divine grace that one can attain supreme peace and find their eternal place in the divine realm. The verses in the Gita also highlight the spiritual law that states an individual’s emotions and actions are influenced by their forms of attachment. As stated in Adhyay 9:25, those who worship gods tend to become like gods; those who worship ancestors become like ancestors, and so on. This principle underscores the importance of focusing our devotion towards the divine.
The Dangers of Attachment to Imaginary Characters
The scriptures set a clear goal for human life, which is to attain the eternal and divine place. However, the constant consumption of movies and TV shows can lead to emotional attachments with characters that exist only in imaginary realms. This attachment can divert our focus from our spiritual path, leading to wasted time and potential spiritual deterioration. When we become emotionally attached to fictional characters and their actors, we miss out on the true spiritual journey laid out for us by our divine texts.
Personal Journey and Enlightenment
Similar to many individuals, I too was previously engrossed in watching movies and TV series, like most youths. However, upon coming into contact with the spiritual knowledge imparted by Saint Rampal ji, based on our own ancient scriptures, I realized the pitfalls of following the teachings of half-knowledgeable spiritual leaders—gurus. This realization led me to follow the path of spiritual worship of the supreme God as outlined by Saint Rampal ji. The divine knowledge I received has freed me from bad habits and provided me with inner peace, resolving social, economic, and emotional tensions.
Seeking Spiritual Enlightenment through Divine Knowledge
I urge all my brothers and sisters to seek true enlightenment by learning the tattv-gyan, or spiritual knowledge, through listening to the discourses of saints and reading books like "Jeene ki Raah - Way of Living." This divine knowledge can help us lead fulfilling lives, as I have had the benefit of experiencing.
Embrace this path and allow divine knowledge to guide you towards a life of true enlightenment.
