From Victim to Survivor: A Journey to Healing and Acceptance

The Path to Healing

If it's that bad, get out! Sometimes, the first step in healing is removing yourself from harmful circumstances. Consider accessing support through Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS) or seeking professional therapy services. Therapy can be a powerful tool in overcoming trauma and rebuilding your life.

Changing Your Mindset

The first step is to change the way you think. Stop fixating on your feelings and learn to focus on self-improvement. Build up your self-confidence by considering the benefits of self-reflection and personal growth. Start thinking about how you can help others – everyone deals with their own challenges, and that's your past. Leave it there and move forward.

Rebuilding Self-Trust

One of the most important steps in moving on from trauma is learning to protect yourself from further abuse. This means getting the perpetrator out of your life. From there, take small steps to rebuild your self-confidence. Learn to gauge people's intentions and trust your instincts. Relationships should be built on mutual respect and trust, not rushed decisions. Every day, you learn more about the people in your life. So, take things slow and only trust people who rightfully earn your trust.

Living Life to the Fullest

Life may not be easy right now, but it's important to remind yourself that you are still alive. This is a blessing in itself. I once struggled for nine months without being able to walk due to my focus on fitness, but when I retook control of my fitness, I found a new sense of identity. Remember, doing what you love is crucial. It can reaffirm your purpose and bring joy to your daily life.

Acceptance and Forgiveness

Acceptance is key in the healing journey. Understand what stage of grief you are in. You are already a survivor, and while others may not always validate your narrative, you have the knowledge and the empathy to forgive yourself. Understand that your narrative is valid and let go of guilt.

Much love,
